We process in the browser and we do not store the entered data.

Compressing images reduces the size of files while maintaining adequate visual quality for the web, social media, and messaging apps. Smaller files load faster, use less mobile data, and improve the performance score (Core Web Vitals). This tool re-encodes JPG/PNG/WebP in the browser or server itself and delivers the result as a download, without saving anything on our systems.

When to use each format

  • JPG: Ideal for photos and images with a lot of detail. Use quality between 70–85.
  • PNG: Recommended for graphics, text, or images with transparency. The compression has little effect on photographic images.
  • WebP: Usually generates files smaller than JPG while maintaining good sharpness; supports transparency.

Quality tips

  • Start testing 80%; gradually reduce until you notice visible loss.
  • Very sharp/detailed images may require 85–90% to avoid artifacts.
  • For thumbnails and previews, 60–70% is usually sufficient.

Metadata and privacy

During recompression, EXIF metadata (e.g., GPS and camera model) tends to be removed, reducing the size and protecting sensitive information. Still, review the result if you need to ensure the complete removal of embedded data.

Best practices

  • Resize the image to the intended usage resolution before compressing (e.g., maximum layout width).
  • Avoid recompressing the same JPG multiple times; always start from the original when possible.
  • For the web, use responsive dimensions (srcset) and modern formats when supported.
